“We lost a friend, a team mate and a family member. I have no words that can express my pain over this loss,” said the manager of the team Axel Merck.
He also added to feel very thankful to have known him and that feels privileged to have been able to share his passion for cycling with him.
The crash moment
Even though the tragic crash involved severe other professional athletes that were competing at the Tour of the Gila, fortunately, they ended up with moderate or light injuries.
“The crash itself was really no different or remarkable to any other. A small bunch of riders came into the corner. It was a bit deceiving; they realized they’d misjudged it and in the correction, lost control and crashed,” Mobius Future Racing general manager Tom Petty told cyclingnews.com.
