Warren Barguil was the one to give the Tour his second stage victory as Astana’s Fabio Aru was able to keep the well-deserved, yellow jersey previously held by Chris Froome. It was the yesterday’s 12th stage which after delivering some brutal and intensive racing moments, made Aru the new yellow jersey holder.
Today’s 101 km stage which took place in Saint-Girons and finished at Foix, was among the shortest stages of this Year’s Tour de France. However, 13th stage cannot be called an easy once especially since it featured three climbs belonging in the Category One.
Barguil, the mountain’s classification leader, was able to beat Columbian Nairo Quintana, Mikel Landa and also Alberto Contador to the finish line after having a last minute four-man battle towards today’s victory.
