Team Sunweb star, Warren Barguil, will join Fortuneo-Oscaro for the 2018 season

Warren Barguil

August 2017: It is official; one of Tour de France’s starts and also one of the best riders of Team Sunweb, Warren Barguil, has decided to leave his team to join Fortuneo-Oscaro in next year’s season.

He seems to be searching for new development opportunities shortly after winning the polka dot jersey along with two Tour de France stages. Rumor has it, Warren Barguil has settled for a three-year deal. This means we can all witness him leading the French’s second division Professional Continental cycling team, at the following Tour de France which takes place in summer 2018.

The new team seems like a really great fit for him especially since he has already spent a couple of months as part of their team as a stagiaire back in 2011.

Barguil’s point of view

Barguil admitted to feel very happy to join the Fortuneo-Oscaro team especially after witnessing the team’s success stories and rise in the last couple of years.

“As was shown at the Tour de France, there is a very solid collective and [general manager] Emmanuel Hubert has the ambition to make the team grow again and to look for results in the biggest international races. We are going to work step by step and not change the things that worked well! By joining Fortuneo-Oscaro, I am team with Breton DNA. In the continuity of my career I wanted a return to the roots.”- Barguil added.
