giro d'Italia stage 9

A 67-year old cyclist has died yesterday while participating in RideLondon’s 100-mile competition. The father of four, Maris Ozols, suddenly suffered a strong cardiac arrest on Cromwell Road.

“Maris lived life to the full. He was a much loved husband; father and grandfather who refused to get old. He died doing what he loved.”- Ozols’s son, Martin stated.

“Everyone involved in Prudential RideLondon would like to express our sincere condolences to Maris’s family and friends.” – Prudential RideLondon said in an official statement.

They will make no further details public since Maris Ozols’s family has asked for privacy. They also added that the final, official cause of his death will only be released after a more advanced, detailed medical examination that is expected to be done very soon.
