Cyclist Matteo Trentin has officially started his altitude training a couple of days ago but is seems the luck won’t be on his side. He was reportedly training near Lake Tahoe in California when he faces some unexpected and dangerous circumstances.
It seems Trentin “met” a bear into the Californian wildlife. When the bear decided it was time for him to cross the road before the rider, the life of Trentin was put in danger. It seems this event made Trentin crash with the bear and end up outside the road. Well, at least, this is what the rider is claiming. After all, no one except the bear saw what really happened.
Post Tour of California
Right after participating in Tour of California, Trentin along with some of his quickstep Floor’s teammates, went for altitude training up to the mountains. What they didn’t realize was that when deciding to stay in these North-America areas, things like ‘bears passing by” are common and should be expected.
Considering the high speed Trentin was riding with, the results of this crash could have been fatal. Having no time to react and get the bike together, is one of the most dangerous situations a professional rider can put himself into that has often lead to tragic endings.
Trentin made sure everyone to know about this accident when he recalled the encounter on his Instagram profile saying:
“Always wear a helmet fellas!!it can also happen that during training a bear cross your path when you are in a fast downhill. No space to brake so i got an accident with him!! He wasnt a fluffy teddybear ? Thanks @iamspecialized_road for the fast replacement!! On the road again!!”
