Manchester will officially host Tissot UCI World Cup 2017

The place where a round of the 2017-2018 Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup will take place, is already confirmed. The official confirmation has come by the British Cycling officials and UK sport and Manchester City Council. Manchester’s HSBC UK national Cycling centre will be the exact place to stage a round of this widely-loved event.

 

The world’s premier track cycling has finally returned to Manchester for the first time sisnce 2013. It will take place later this year, in November 10th until November 12th.

 

This two-day event will be the second round of the 2017-2018 Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup series according to UCI. Other rounds that will happen this year will take place in Poland, Pruszków, Milton, Canada and Santiago (Chile).

 


 

Official declarations

 

Jonny Clay, the British Cycling’s director, was the first to give his opinion on the event. He admitted that the Manchester’s venue has a large and proud history of hosting and staging major international track events. He also mentioned the fact that this event’s tickets have already achieved a record in sales. According to him, the 017 HSBC UK National Track Championships in Manchester showed clearly the strong appetite for track cycling.

 

On the other hand, Luthfur Rahman, Manchester City Council’s executive member for culture and leisure councilor added: “Attracting prestigious events of the calibre of the TISSOT UCI Track Cycling World Cup to Manchester will help us in our goal to get more people of all ages into cycling. Our city is proud to host the busiest velodrome in the world. And in partnership with British Cycling – we will continue to encourage as many local residents as possible to take advantage of this world-class facility.”
