Latest news from the British cycling world has just told us that Dr Richard Freeman has now resigned from his role with British Cycling. Apparently health issues have become the main reason of this act.
So far, has been quite some time since Freeman hasn’t been active in his work with the British cycling governing body. Rumor has it he is suffering from a stress-related condition that has made him unable to continue working.
“Dr Richard Freeman has tendered and we have accepted his resignation from British Cycling in the interest of his health,” a British Cycling spokesman said in an official statement.
“We regret that we have not been able to reconcile all unanswered questions whilst he was in our employment. But we continue to work closely with UKAD as we are intent on bringing their investigation to a satisfactory conclusion.
“We hope that upon his return to health, Richard can do his part to help bring to a close ongoing investigations.”
Whatever the reason, Freeman pulling out at so late doesn’t look good at all. Didn’t answer our q’s in Oct either pic.twitter.com/CRKc9LhYmh

Can doctor’s ‘mystery package’ be the real reason?
The former Team Sky main doctor has been in the center of a serious investigation regarding the real contents of a supposedly ‘medical package’ that was delivered to Sir Bradley Wiggins in 2011 during Criterium du Dauphine tour.
This case has been investigated by British Cycling and also UK Anti-Doping. So far, these groups haven’t been able to come up with a final answer and close the investigation once and for all.
Chief executive Julie Harrington admitted that Dr Freeman was under investigation on “employment matters”. While on the other hand, Ukad’s inquiry indicated “doping matters”.
“After some months we were ready to continue with disciplinary action,” Harrington told The Guardian. “Dr Freeman really wasn’t well enough to commence that and so we’ve allowed him to resign.”
