Lasse Norman Hansen is now leading the Herald Sun Tour after an impressive stage one victory in Warrnambool earlier today.
2012 Olympic Track Gold medallist, Danish cyclist, was able to cross the finish line faster than everyone else by outpassing a reduced bunch of sprint taking today’s 161.6km stage which started in Colac before coming to an end in Warrnambool.
Aqua Blue Sport’s man has now moved into the competition’s leader’s yellow jersey which he took from Britain’s Ed Clancy.

Learning from his mistakes
“This is a nice comfort prize after yesterday,” Hansen said. “I was a bit gutted to have missed it yesterday. But, like I said, I made a mistake and you can’t expect to win when you make a mistake on a short prologue. I am really happy to make up for it today and get away with the win and jersey.”
Bennelong SwissWellness’ man Steele von Hoff took second as Mitchelton-Scott’s Cameron Meyer took third, sealing his position in the last sprint of the race, only 10 seconds behind.
“I don’t know if you can explain what happened out there. It was definitely chaotic in the last 30 kilometres,” Meyer said. “We put ourselves in a good position for the general classification. We are right up there.”
