June 12: A group of cyclists hit by a car in Macedon near Melbourne. One fighting for his life.
A group of three cyclists were involved in a terrible accident a couple of hours ago. One of them is fighting for his life. The other two were left with several injuries but fortunately, they will soon be OK.
Three cyclists were cycling in Macedon when a passing car ploughed into them with high speed. The crash left one of the three riders who was train riding on Black Forrest Drive near Melbourne, with serious head and spinal injuries.
The aftermath
Even though the accident happened during the morning hours, the help came really quick. Experts took care of the riders and sent them to the Royal hospital in Melbourne. The most-injured one was immediately sent to the hospital with an air ambulance.
Det Sgt Amos, one of the first to check the rider’s condition, said: “He is in the fight of his life to try and survive. Investigators are looking at the involvement of distraction, speed and the other classic causes of these sorts of collisions of impairment from drugs or alcohol.”
Amos also added this event to act as a strong reminder to all of us. According to him, we need to take our responsibilities as equal road users very seriously. He added everyone should look after each other particularly when in vulnerable road users like cyclists.
