The famous British pair, Ellie Dickinson and Elinor Barker, have just won gold in the Madison during the last day of the European Track Championships that took place last week in Berlin. Yesterday marked the final day of 2017 UEC European Track Championships.
The Olympic champions were able to take the title during the final sprint. As for Welsh rider, Barker, 23, she won the team pursuit silver on Thursday in the British quartet, making the yesterday’s victory her second medal.

“We worked to our strengths. I’m not feeling too fast at the moment but I thought I was fit enough to have quite an attacking race,” Barker said.
“Unfortunately we couldn’t get that second lap but managed to get enough sprints and enough time off the front that we picked up enough points.”
In total, Britain finished with 58 points, with Ireland in second place taking 50. Netherlands took third with 46 points. This makes Britain win four medals right after Katie Archibald took gold in both the individual pursuit and also the omnium.

Soon after winning the yesterday’s first elite European title, 19-year-old Dickinson stated: “I’m really happy, especially to do it with Elinor. We did the Madison together in LA (at the track world cup) and that didn’t really go to plan so it was nice for it to go well today.”
