Dubai Tour 2017 Details: Essential things to know

Starting from today, road across six emirates for the Dubai Tour will be closed. The Dubai Tour 2017 will begin between 10.30 am and 3.30 pm until Saturday this week. It is estimated that each road will be approximately closed for about 10 to 15 minutes as cyclists pass through and then reopen again.

The Dubai Tour 2017 is divided into 5 stages. They are as follows:

 

– The first stage begins at Dubai International Marine Sports Club on King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Street. Then, the race continues to Palm Jumeirah. It is 181 km long. Cyclists will ride along Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai-Al Ain Street, Jebel Ali-Lehbab Street , Al Lisaili Street, , Umm Suqeim Street , Al Qudra Street, Emirates Street, pass through internal streets in Motor City and Dubai Sports City’s inner streets.

 

– The second stage includes a 187 km ride and it starts again at the Dubai International Marine Sports Club and continues to Ras Al Khaimah. Cyclists will pass through Umm Suqeim Street, Al Khail Road, Ras Al Khor Street, Al Aweer Street. Then Emirates Road, and then enter Sharjah before going through Ras Al Khaimah.

 

– The third stage is the longest ride. Cyclist will ride towards 200 km and it kicks off at the Dubai International Maine Sports Club and continues towards Fujairah. The road cyclists will pass are :  Umm Suqeim Street, Al Khail Road, Ras Al Khor Street, internal streets in Silicon Oasis, Dubai-Al Ain Street. Then,  Academic City Street, Al Aweer Street and Emirates Road towards Sharjah and then to Fujairah.

 

– The fourth stage goes towards a distance of 172 km. Cylcist will start this ride at Dubai International Marine Sports Club and then will close it at Hatta. This ride will take cyclists through Umm Suqeim Street, Al Khail Road, Ras Al Khor Street, Aweer Street and the Hatta-Oman Road towards Sharjah and Fujairah and then arriving to Hatta.

 

– The fifth and last stage begins in Dubai International Marine Sports Club and it is127 km long. This ride with be finished in Walk City. All cyclists will ride through Umm Suqeim Street, Al Asayil Street, Oasis Street, First Al Khail Road, Meydan Street, Dubai-Al Ain Road, Oud Metha Street, Al Khail Road, Rabat Street, Tripoli Street, Mushrif Park, 222 Street, Tunisia Street, Al Nahda Street. Damascus Street, Baghdad Street and Cairo Street. Then, they will pass over Al Mamzar Beach Street, Al Khaleej Street and Baniyas Street before crossing through Al Maktoum Bridge, Khalid bin Waleed Street, Al Musalla Street in Bur Dubai. Al Fahidi Street, Ali bin Abi Talib Street, Ghubaiba Street, Al Falah Street, Al Khaleej Street, Sheikh Rashid Street. Finally, they will close the tour passing through Jumeirah Street, Umm Al Sheef Street, Al Wasl Street, Al Safa Street, and then ending it at City Walk.

 

 

Other details of the tour

 

Most of the above-mentioned stages are on flat terrains (4 from 5 stages). So, the Tour’s rides are calculated to be finished in high-speed. This tour is also called the Sprinter’s race and it’s able to offer one of the biggest showdowns this season. When deciding who will be the final winner, every time bonus and seconds won/lost will be extremely important.

 

Another thing to be mentioned is the teams and riders that are participating on Dubai Tour 2017. Thanks to the financial deal with Velon, this tour has been able to attract some of the best and most popular cyclists and teams in this sport. Each team has 8 riders. Some of them are:
