The Cardiff Triathlon competition is planned to take place tomorrow, on June 24 and it will only last for the weekend. Three components of the race include swimming, cycling and running all in the areas near Welsh’s capital city.
Race organizers have promised to deliver a weekend with a lot more than just an action-packed race with live music, food stalls and other events to entertain fans and spectators.
The race
The race, on its first day, will start with a swim in Cardiff Bay and then, it will move to a closed road cycle where triathletes will perform the run part. During the two-day event, in total, there are three distances available. The first two ones will take place on the Saturday and they are: Sprint and Super Sprint.
– The first one features a 750 metre swim, a 20 km cycle and a 5 km run.
– The Super Sprint one consists of a 400 metre swim, a 10 km cycle and a 2.5 km run.
– The main race will take place on Sunday. It features an Olympic-distance triathlon which includes a 1,500 metre swim, 40 km cycle and a 15 km run.
Closed roads
Road closures will only be on Sunday, June 25 between 6:30 am and 1:30 pm. These roads are:
– East Tyndall Street from its junction with Schooner Way to its junction with Herbert Street and Lloyd George Avenue.
– Lloyd George Avenue from its junction with Herbert Street to its junction with Bute Place – Access out of Lloyd George Avenue properties will be kept close on the day of the event.
– Bute Place from its junction with Lloyd George Avenue to its junction with Pierhead Street.
– James Street, Clarence Road, Avondale Road and Ferry Road.
– International Drive to its junction with Olympian Way.
– Olympian Way, Watkiss Way and left on Dunleavy Drive from its junction with Watkiss Way to its junction with Dunleavy Drive Retail Park.
