British Cycling, Jan. 2018 – Heiko Salzwedel has confirmed the news about the coaching position he left earlier today. However, no one was impressed since the news were already made public earlier in 2017.
He will now no longer be the coach of Britain men’s endurance squad, British Cycling has announced. The German coach had three spells in total with the national governing body, the most recent one from Oct. 2014.
Salzwedel is known to have guided some of the most historic victories of the British Cycling. He helped Ed Clancy, Sir Bradley Wiggins, Steven Burke and Owain Doull to take the gold in the team pursuit at the Olympics in Rio in 2016 while holding the men’s endurance coach position.
A final, official decision
Even though officially, Salzwedel left the position at the British Cycling’s National Cycling Centre in October, the body made his departure public only today.
