Alex Lee, GB triathlete, suffers big crash at Cagliari ITU World Cup

Alex Lee

Just a couple of days ago, people were reporting and witnessing one of the most stunning performances that the European and World Cup Junior Duathlon champion, Alex Lee was giving.

Unfortunately, it seems the luck wasn’t on the same page with the young talent when he had a horrible crash while cycling at the Cagliari ITU World Cup Triathlon event back on Sunday’s race.

The first to come on the crashing scene was British Team physio, Lyndsey Townsend. She noticed Lee had crashed with a bollard. After taking the necessary emergency care, Lee was immediately sent to the nearest trauma hospital.

He suffered from broken ribs, a collapsed lung and fractured vertebrae after hitting the bollard during the ITU Triathlon World Cup race.

Alex Lee is currently receiving the right treatment while in an Italian hospital after getting multiple injuries while cycling in a considerable high speed. According to the statement British Triathlon made, Alex Lee had immediately lost his consciousness. He will continue to stay in the trauma hospital while British Triathlon undertakes the right and necessary procedures.

“Alex is receiving a very high level of care. It is hoped that he will be able to return home in the next few days,” said British Triathlon.

Promising talent…

Alex Lee, 19, is definitely one of the most promising young British talents. He was able to recently clock a 13:37 of run for 5 km in Belgium, May 27.  This time moved him to the fourth place on the all-time under-20 list in UK!
