Vuelta a Espana: Matteo Trentin takes stage four’s win as Froome continues to stay in red (Video)

Italian Matteo Trentin’s sprint to the victory made him win the fourth stage of Vuelta a Espana while Britain’s champion, Chris Froome, retained the red jersey as the overall leader.

 

The Quick-Step Floors’ boy was seen to reel in while passing the Spain’s Juan Jose Lobato. The four-time Tour de France champion, Chris Froome, finished in the bunch of the 198km-route of stage four from Escaldes to Engordany still holding the 2-second lead.

 


Trentin, 28, is now a stage winner in all three Grand Tours, adding to his victory at the Giro d’Italia in 2016 and victories in the 2013 and 2014 Tours de France.

 

During an official interview, he admitted to feel very proud for his achievement. “I’m really proud to have done this with this team. I was really looking for this stage win as I’ve been going well in the last part of the season.”- he said.

 

Quick-Step’s team members have been able to win two of the four stages of this year’s Vuelta so far following Yves Lampaert’s victory of the second stage.
