Young time trailling, Joe Guy, killed after crashing with a van

Joe Guy

A promising young time trailling has died immediately after crashing with a passing van. When this tragic accident happened, Joe Guy, was ride training with a friend.

The junior rider seems to have been in the wrong place in the wrong time when he suddenly found himself struck by a passing van at a junction. Mathew Lewis, his fellow Wolverhampton Wheelers member, was the one along with the van’s driver to ask for immediate help.

Despite the air ambulance didn’t take long to attend the incident at the junction of Straight Mile and Vicarage Road, at around 10 am; Joe had already passed away at the scene.

John Ireson, the Wolverhampton Wheelers director was the first who paid a touching tribute to Joe. He described him as a lovely young boy who will be strongly missed…

A further investigation into the accident is now being taken care of by the Staffordshire police. Many witnesses are also being asked, even though, it seems there is not much to add.

Who was Joe?

The young promising time trailling named Joe, first started out training and racing for cycle speedway when he was very young. He then joined the Wolverhampton Wheelers club around 5 years ago, being able to take part in different cycling competitions.

He was able to come close to go under 22 minutes for a 10 mile time trial around 15 days ago, setting his first sights on the National Championships.
