The reason behind Frison’s injury: unprofessional race organizers. At least, according to most of the team leaders…
Team leaders were in the same page when giving their opinion regarding Frison’s crash. According to them, the race was in lack of peloton solidarity. This event made them all strongly criticize how the racing situation and conditions were handled.
Team Lotto was the one that officially reported this accident where Frederick Frison had a massive crash since the first stage of the Jours du Dunkerque race. Frison had severe injuries and his physical condition is very fragile.
Doctors diagnosed him with multiple pelvic fractures which require a lot of time and commitment in order to fully heal. This means, Frison can see himself resting for a while because cycling in these conditions is not possible.
On his left side, Frison has three broken ribs. He also has two fractures to the transverse process on his vertebrae. Even though, according to his team members, he doesn’t need to undergo any surgery, the long recovery time is necessary.

During the crash on which Frison was involved in, Stijn Vandenbergh from AG2R team also suffered from severe concussion.
The reaction
Hilaire Van Der Schueren from Wanty-Groupe Gobert was just like most of the other team leader, furious and angry not only about the minimal security features of the riding course, but also about the way the race organizers handled this accident.
In an interview for the Belga news agency, he added: “Why did not the course be neutralized immediately? There were some riders heavily injured on the asphalt. Have you not learned any lessons after last year with Antoine and Stig?”
