Wednesday, June 28: Philippines will finally be able to host its first Ironman Triathlon event after so many years of dreaming this day to come.
They also get to host the world’s toughest competition on its 10th birthday. They will additionally organize an event to celebrate the first decade since Ironman Triathlon was first introduced to the world.
The starting date is June 3, 2018. Filipino triathletes have now the chance to aim and become Ironman competitors while hosting it in their home country.
The single-day competition will take place in Subic Bay, Zambales.
Longtime partner of the Ironman Triathlon event, Century Tuna hopes next year’s competition to attract more Filipinos. He knows they finally have the chance to prove themselves in the most difficult sport in the world.

He also admitted that despite the fearsome idea and overwhelming physical challenges and demands this sport has, the general demand for the competition has been constantly growing worldwide.
Ironman Triathlon components
Before being able to earn the big title, every triathlete must first undertake several sea-based and land-based distances.
The competition is planned to start with a 3.8 kilometer swim segment. Then, triathletes will prepare for a 180 kilometer bike route. Finally, the race will end with a 42 kilometer, full-distance marathon all in 17 hours.
The Ironman event planned to take place in the Philippines is the only other sanctioned Ironman competition located in the Southeast Asia region apart from Langkawi, Malaysia.
The registration for Ironman Subic Bay opens on August 1, 2017. All competing triathletes must be 18 or older when the race starts.
