2017, Argentina welcomes for the first time a full-distance IRONMAN

Even though Mar del Plata has been home to many triathlons these last 30 years, this year, in 2017, some things will change.  This city will host an IRONMAN event for the first time! It is called by many, the place where the sports were born in South America.

 

This beautiful city hosts more than 8 million tourists each year, especially during the summer time. Located about 400 kilometers from Buenos Aires, it is extremely easy to be accessed by plane, or land. People, who will witness this big event, will be able to also enjoy many hidden gems of this city. Also, it offers endless of hotels, bars and restaurants choices and amazing beaches to explore.

 

For all adventure seekers, Mar del Plata offers also endless casino options, architecture insights, and forests to be visited.  IRONMAN will take place at the same location where Rally Dakar 2012 was done.  One interesting thing to be mentioned is the amazing route this IRONMAN will have. It includes racing at some of the most iconic areas and locations, going through the entire sea boulevard…

 

When this event will take place, the expected temperatures will be between 19 and 27 degrees Celsius. Perfect for a real IRONMAN event! The race will begin with a 3.8 km swim. It will be followed by a 180 kilometers cycling and a 42.2 kilometers of run along the picturesque coastline of Mar del Plata.
