The 15 year old Cyclocross star Charlie Craig died on Friday night

Charlie Craig

Charlie Craig was the son of former national Champion in UK, Nick Craig. He was the National Trophy Cyclocross Series winner for the under 16 category.

The domestic cycling scene is shocked after learning the sudden death of Charlie Craig. The 15 year-old died in his sleep. His dad, Nick Craig, was the one to give this sad news on his fan page.

He said on Facebook: “Yesterday, our world fell apart, our beautiful lovely little boy Charlie went to sleep but never woke up. I don’t know what else to write just now, but he will be with his little angel niece.”

Everyone felt the sadness…

The former national cyclocross champion, Chreis Wreghitt was among the ones to express his grieve about this tragic event. He said: “Nick, I am devastated for you. You will need time to grieve but then in your own time lean on friends who I hope will in some way help you to recover from this terrible loss. My thoughts are with you.”

Also, the director of British Cycling’s programmers expressed how devastated the organization was by this news.

Charlie Craig was able to secure the 2016 National Trophy Cyclocross Series. He secured this title by winning two rounds and classified second in another two. Earlier this month, in the National Championship race in Braford, he was also pipped for the gold medal by only some milliseconds.  Even though he was a strong and effective rider in mountain biking, many believed he would soon become a world’s class rider especially after seeing his talent blossom in the 2016 seasons.

He has also finished in seventh position in the British MTB Cross-Country Series in under 16 category, and also, culminating in third place in the final round at Cannock Chase in August.
