Triathlon : Swim 400 Meters, Bike 12.4 Miles, Run 3.1 Miles |
- The Springstead Sprint is a laid-back sprint-length triathlon. Athletes can compete as individuals or teams (relay style). All ability levels are welcome. Fun and safety are the main goals. Course security is provided by Sherman 1st Responders, Mercer Area Ambulance, Iron County Sheriff's Dept., Mercer Dive Team , and volunteers. Proceeds will go to the Town of Sherman 1st Responders (EMS providers for the Springstead area) and the Sherman Volunteer Fire Department.
Racers will enter the waters of Boot Lake for the 1/4 mile SWIM event, the first phase of the triathlon. Flotation devices are recommended while swimming. Next is the BIKE event, in which racers will pedal 16 miles on gently rolling paved roads. Racers must provide the,ir own bicydes, and helmets are required. Following the BIKE event, racers will participate in the final phase of the Springstead Sprint, a 5K (3.2 mile) run/walk. Course maps for the BIKE and RUN events will be made available on the day of the Springstead Sprint.
Racers will meet at The Birches Resort, 1727 N. Boot Lake Road, in Springstead. All three phases of the Springstead Sprint will begin and end at The Birches.
