The Pine Bush Triathlon is a 325 Yard Lake Swim - 11.5 Mile Bike - 3.25 Mile Run.

Prizes for overall male/female, team and age group awards.Participants will compete in the following male and female age groups. Age group prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in each age group. Winners must be present at the finish line to receive their prize. 14-19,  20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+

Specialty awards awarded to the team with the highest cumulative age (The Scrub Oak Award), the team with the lowest cumulative age (The Acorn Award).

The swim portion of the race begins at the City of Albany’s Rensselaer Lake which is part of the Pine Bush Reserve. Located in Six Mile Waterworks Park on southeast shore off Fuller Road, about 0.2 miles north of I-90, in the Albany's Pine Bush Preserve.

The bike begins at the southern end of the lake and follows the paved path west. It then turns west on Washington Ave. Extension, and turns north on to Route 155 / New Karner Road and then west on to Old State Road.

The last leg is the run which starts south on Winding Brook Drive near the Guilderland YMCA and goes out to Nott Road. (You can obtain a map of the course on line.)

Great event for all levels!  ALL REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE A GENDER SPECIFIC DRI FIT WEAVE SHORT SLEEVE TEE SHIRT.

Pre Packet pick up and body markings will be Saturday, July 16 at the Guilderland Y from 9am to 1pm.  Day of packet pick up will be Sunday, July 17th from 6:30am to 7:30am at the Rensselaer Lake (Six Mile Waterworks) Located in Six Mile Waterworks Park on southeast shore off Fuller Road, about 0.2 miles north of I-90, in the Albany's Pine Bush Preserve. Chip pick up will be at Rensselaer Lake (Six Mile Waterworks) from 6:30am to 7:30am - located at 133 Fuller Road, Albany.

OFFICIAL RACE RULES The following rules have been designed for your safety and enjoyment. Failure to comply with any of the rules can result in penalties, and /or removal from the race. Instructions at the pre-race briefing supercede any or all of the following rules. SWIM Competitors must be numbered on both arms at the YMCA not at the Lake. All competitors must wear the swim cap provided in the race packet — no substitutes allowed. Wet suits are allowed (most participants do not use them). If swimmers are in need of help during the event, they should attempt to wave one arm out of the water. Several YMCA lifeguards will be stationed in the water for assistance. BIKE Each competitor is responsible for the care and maintenance of their bike. The bike frame number must be attached to the front of the top tube and must be clearly visible at all times. A bike helmet is mandatory during the entire bike race. Helmets must meet current safety standards. Helmets must be securely strapped prior to mounting the bike and can not be unstrapped until after dismount. Bikes can not be mounted until after leaving the Swim/Bike transition area. Drafting another competitor is not recommended. For your safety, a minimum of one bike length should be maintained between you and the competitor in front of you. If you are passed by another competitor you should slip back to a safe distance. Competitors must follow instructions of race officials and public authorities and must obey all traffic laws. Competitors must ride to the right on the road at all times. Bikes must be dismounted prior to entering the Bike/Run transition area. RUN Competitors must wear their run number on their front where it is clearly visible at all times. Do not pin the "tear tag". Run on the right shoulder of the road. Stay in line in the race finish chute until your race number "tear tag" has been taken by the race official. Remove your timing chip and hand it to the race official in the chute. GENERAL It is the competitor’s responsibility to be familiar with and follow the race route. Entry into the transition areas is allowed only to competitors. Competitors must follow the directions of race officials and public authorities. Race officials have the ultimate and final authority to remove competitors who violate race rules or who display irresponsible behavior. Friends, family, assistants or pets may not accompany race competitors and should be warned to stay clear of all competitors. Competitors are not allowed to wear headphones, earplugs or any other sound device that impairs normal hearing. Good sportsperson-like conduct is required of all competitors. To receive an award, you must be present at the awards ceremony. Participants are responsible for the care of the timing chip.  Lost or damaged chips are the responsibility of the participant and will be charged a fee for its replacement. Inclement weather conditions may cancel the race.  No rain date.  No refunds.



Event details and schedule

Pre packet pick  up and body markings is Saturday, July 16 from 9am to 1pm at the Guilderland Y, 250 Winding Brook Drive, Guilderland. You will pick up your chip at the the Rensselaer Lake, Located in Six Mile Waterworks Park on southeast shore off Fuller Road, about 0.2 miles north of I-90, in the Albany's Pine Bush Preserve on Sunday, July 17 from 6:30am to 7:30am.

Race Day Schedule 

Day Of Packet Pick Up at the Start/Rensselaer Lake - Sunday July 17 6:30AM-7:30AM - Chip pick-up at the lake from 6:30am to 7:30am.  There are two separate transition areas. Check your running gear at the YMCA transition Area located at the Guilderland YMCA.  Team running member must stay at the YMCA. 

7:30AM-All bikes should be checked into the transition area at the Lake.  Team members do not rack your bikes. Bike race numbers should be attached to the top tube. Your transition gear bag should be properly marked with your race number on it.  Team bike members should remain in the transition area for the start of the race. 7

7:45AM-Swimmers should be in their heat corral. 

8:00AM-Start of Race 

10:00AM-Awards Ceremony.  A shuttle bus is available to bring you back to the Lake after the race to get your swim gear left behind.
