The Lumberman event is going into it’s 6th year, with it being the 2nd year for the half ironman distance for this event. Cadillac is an extremely athletic community with plenty of resources and amenities which an event and its’ athletes like this require. Plenty of lodging and camping choices, a plethora of shopping choices for the entire family, and restaurants with every choice of food and flavor available.
The course is just as perfect with a shallow Cadillac lake swim or kayak/paddle. A bike course that will take you on a quick 3 mile jaunt to get outside of town and then smooth lightly travelled rolling country roads await for an out and back ride. Then the run is special: for the Half and Olympic distance athletes, it is a simple loop around the lake, which is 6.5 miles. Sprint athletes will just zip down to the state park and return. All of this right downtown, in the city park right across the street from the high school. Kayak and stand up paddle boarders come on out, a 4 miler awaits with your choice of bike and run.
The swim will take place in Lake Cadillac, a very shallow lake, so you will start in the water.
The bike will take you north of town on rural country back roads, rolling most of the way as well as tree lined.
The run course is great. Taking you around the lake; once for Olympic athletes and twice for the half athletes. And then an out and back for sprint athletes heading the opposite direction towards the state park. The run course is flat, flat, flat.
