The Granite Bay Triathlon has long been called the Toughest Sprint Triathlon in California because of the long swim, long run after-swim, tricky bike course and challenging run course.

The 18th Annual Granite Bay Triathlon will be the California TRI Club Sprint Triathlon Championship Race, brought to you by CLIF Bar. Triathlon Clubs can compete for Overall Champions and Fastest Team. Teams will receive one point for each finisher in the Granite Bay Triathlon, plus podium points of 5 points for 1st, 4 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd, 2 for 4th and 1 for 5th place in each age group with the First Place Overall Champion Team with the most points will receive a Champion Trophy, TBF Racing prize package and CLIF Bar prize package. Second place overall will receive a runner-up trophy and CLIF Bar prize package and third place overall will get a CLIF Bar prize package. The Fastest Team, with only the top five male and female finishers counting their podium points, will receive Ten Free Entries into the 2016 Granite Bay Triathlon and a CLIF Bar prize package.

Course Information:


Swim - The race starts from the Granite Beach in Folsom Lake with a .75 mile swim from the beach area. The swim course will be a triangular course marked by the large white triangular buoys. Water temperature should be approximately 56 degrees. Wetsuits are recommended. The swim will exit the lake and head up the beach and on a grassy path to the transition area located in the parking area.The SUP Division will complete two-laps on the .75 mile swim course.

Bike - The 13-mile bike course is a TWO-LAP course located entirely within the park on roads closed to traffic. The bike course is windy and has several sharp small hills and tight turns. It is STRONGLY recommended that you ride the course ahead of time. Caution is advised on several of the turns as they wind through the hills and oak trees that surround Folsom Lake. After the second loop you will return into the transition area. Course maps will be available on race morning at Registration. The Bike course will Not have an aid station. Water and electrolyte beverage, along with eEnergy gels will be available in the transition area.

Run - The 5-mile run course leaves transition and runs on single-track trails along the lake back towards Beals Point. The out and back course has 3 aid stations that will be stocked with water, electrolyte beverage, and energy gels. The finish is back at the start area at the Granite Beach. ALL athletes must wear their race number on the front of their body during the run and have it when crossing the finish line.

Granite Bay State Park on Folsom lake is located at the end of Douglas Blvd, 5-6 miles East of I-80. Turn right at the third stop sign after entering the park for the Granite Beach parking lot. There is a $12 vehicle charge for day-use or $125 for an annual pass. Contact phone 916 988 0205
