Kokosingaine is a 2, 3 or 6 hour competitive Rogaine event in which solos or teams of 2-5 people use map and compass to navigate to checkpoints in the Knox County parks and the Brown Family Environmental Center. For the 2 hour race, participants will be entirely on foot in Wolf Run Park. For the 3 and 6 hour events, participants will ride their bikes from Wolf Run to the BFEC, Indian Fields Bluff Park, and Honey Run Park, hop off at designated bike parking spots and start collecting checkpoints. Each participant will receive a cool race shirt and post-race food. Each team will also receive a full color topographic map on race day with checkpoints and a race passport. 

Fees: 

2 hour or 3 hour: $30 per team member

6 hour: $40 per team member


Course Information:


The race will begin at Wolf Run Regional Park in Mount Vernon, Ohio. The 2 hour race (kid-friendly) will take place entirely within the park. The 3 and 6 hour races will utilize the Brown Family Environmental Center at Kenyon College and a variety of Knox County Parks.

Event Rules:

1. Participants for the 3 and 6 hour events must be 18 years or older because bike riding will take place on public roads. Participants may be any age for the 2 hour event.

2. Any participant under the age of 18 must compete WITH a parent or guardian.

3. The team captain (or solo participant) will be the team’s contact person. Also, think up a good team name.

4. Each participant must have their own compass, water supply, emergency whistle, and first aid kit. Details on team and individual gear will go out via email the week of the race.

5. Each team must display one race number at all times.

6. Each team must have one fully charged cell phone present at all times during the race. Phone should be turned OFF as it is only for emergency use.

7. No electronic navigation devices- GPS units, cell phones, etc.- are allowed to be used during the race.

8. Racers are not permitted to access private property. Immediate disqualification if you are found on private property.

9. All team members must complete all portions of the race. Team members must stay within 50 feet of one another at all times.

10. Bikes may be ridden only on roads (paved or gravel) and paved trails.  Do not ride bikes on natural-surface trails within the parks or you'll automatically lose 3 checkpoints.

11. Helmets must be worn and buckled at all times on the bike. Immediate disqualification for riding without a helmet.

12. This is a Rain or Shine event. Please be prepared for the weather conditions. If severe weather threatens, the event may be canceled at the race directors’ discretion.

13.  No littering. Immediate disqualification.

14. All Knox County park and BFEC rules must be observed unless otherwise noted.

15. Participants must check in at the start/finish area before leaving the course. We don’t want to worry about you.

16.  Good sportsmanship is REQUIRED. Don’t be mean and don’t be a cheater. This is supposed to be fun!
