This is new! We’re back at Holly Rec but something is quite different. We’ve moved the 2nd of our two annual Holly Rec Triathlons to a Wednesday night! Some of our team have taken quite a liking to late day events and thought maybe you would too.
Improve upon your time from the early season race at Holly with this great late summer venue. Located in the backyard of Detroit and the Tri Valley areas, Holly Rec is a beautiful park that offers outstanding swim lakes and a fun enclosed bike course. The bike and swim portions of the race will in fact be on a closed course and will provide some unique challenges. Tri To Finish is committed to making this a memorable event for both participants and spectators by ensuring a festive finish line experience for every participant – from first to last.
Course Information:
Holly Recreation Area provides a great venue for a multisport event. The swim will take place in Heron Lake (located at the front of the park). Olympic athletes will complete a two loop triangular swim course. Sprint athletes will complete a single triangular swim course. The bike portion covers a challenging (but FUN!) hilly/paved out and back closed course. Olympic athletes will cover the out and back 4 times. Sprint and Duathlon athletes will complete the out and back course twice. The run will exit the park and traverse dirt/gravel roads on a shaded out and back course. Olympic athletes will run to 5km to their turnaround point while Sprint and Duathlon athletes will run the same course, but only to the 2.5km mark before turning around and heading toward the finish line. All athletes will finish back at Heron Lake.
Directions:
Holly Recreation Area, located 12 miles north of Pontiac, can be reached from I-75 by departing onto Grange Hall Road (exit 101). To the east just past Dixie Highway is the park headquarters. From here Grange Hall Road curves sharply to the north. Continuing east is McGinnis Road, which passes the entrances to the campground and the day-use areas on Heron and Valley lakes.
