Tri Greenville Kids : Kids Race |
Triathlon : Distances Determined by Age |
The transition area is located in the parking lot of the Baldwin Lake Beach. The Beach features a changing room (no showers available), portable rest rooms, drinking water, vending and universal access to the water.
The swim portion for all events and divisions starts and ends on the Baldwin Lake Beach. The water of Baldwin Lake has good visibility of approximately 5-10 feet and will typically be around 70°F on race day. The depth of the lake on the adult course will be approximately 15 feet, but the kids event will be all shallow water along the beach with a sandy bottom.
The adult bike ride will leave the lake area and follow roads that will be open to traffic. All turns will be to the right and there is generally a shoulder on the higher volume portions of the route. Police support is included to enhance participant safety and limit traffic speed. The terrain is moderately hilly with a long uphill near mile 10 and a steep descent returning to Baldwin Lake that will require good brakes.
The kid's bike ride stays on the closed roads along the Baldwin Lake shoreline, with an exception of approximately 1.5 miles of the U15 route that makes use of some open road with police support and the Fred Meijer Flat River Trail.
The run portion is a flat, fast loop along the shoreline of Baldwin Lake on roads closed to traffic for all divisions. The adult course also follows the shoreline of Manoka Lake and a brief "lake-less" out-and-back with a small hill thrown in for good measure.
