BIKE: Sprint 12.4 miles, Olympic 25 miles
The bike course is located on the roads surrounding Yuba State Park. The roads have very low traffic which makes the bike riding safe and enjoyable. The road surface alternates between smooth asphalt and rough chip seal asphalt. Be mindful of the changing surfaces. The course will be marked by cones and tri. signs.
There are several cattle guards on course be cautious as you encounter them. In previous years we have covered them but in most cases it only changed the nature of the problem. This year they will be uncovered but heavily marked. Proper technique is to slow down to cross them while making yourself light on the bike.
Sprint Distance- Out and back course covering 12.4 miles on US 90 and the frontage road along i-15. It is basically flat with several slight inclines and declines spaced throughout. The only turn is a left turn just after the I-15 overpass. This is a highly dangerous turn PLEASE slow down for it going out and coming back.
Olympic Distance- Loop course covering the 25 miles. It has a few minor climbs and descents. This course begins the same as he sprint but continues past the sprint turnaround to another turnaround further down the frontage road. Once at this turn slow you will continue back on the frontage road to a right turn underneath an overpass on to US 90. Make the turn and it will loop you back to the State Park.
*Both Sprint and Olympic be cautious as you re-enter the State Park. Slow down and yield to any obstacles you may encounter. Remember it is better to be a few seconds slower and safe!
*Transition 2- Slow down and dismount at the dismount line. Rack bike and transition to running attire. Exit transition following directional signs. Make sure your race number is on your front before you start running.
