Triathlon : Bike 18 Miles, Paddle 3 Miles, Run 8 Miles |
The Adventure Triathlon was designed to be a journey through nature. Explore northwest Wisconsins beauty by biking through Crex Meadows Wildlife Area, paddling down the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway and running through Governor Knowles State Park on your way back to Memory Lake Park. While that sounds soothing, its really an adventure! You will experience some challenging terrains throughout the race.
Bike = 18 miles; Paddle = 3 miles; Run = 8 miles.
Racers will receive chip timing, dri-wick performance shirt, goody bag, post-race refreshments, entertainment. The top three teams, top three men individuals and top three women individuals will receive awards. Proceeds benefit Grantsburg youth recreation.
Bike
The first leg will be biking. Everyone will start at Memory Lake Park and travel through Crex Meadows Wildlife Area. This portion of the event is 18 miles and you will experience a variety of terrain some very challenging ground (sand, gravel, pavement) and curves.
Paddle
When you arrive at Soderbeck Landing on the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, you will transition into your self-propelled vessel such as a kayak or canoe. There will be transition zone sponsors to cheer you along and provide refreshments to take with on your journey down the river to the Highway 70 landing. This stretch of the race is approximately 3 miles.
Run
At the Highway 70 bridge landing you will exit your vessel. Transition volunteers will help get your vessel out of the water so you can quickly dry off and fuel up. Get ready for a challenging, yet very fun, trek through Governor Knowles State Forest. Once arriving at West River Road, you will venture to Skog Road where you will experience some hills and beautiful countryside. Skog will take to you Russell Road where you head North up some hills and set it into cruise control as you finish the race through Grantsburg back to Memory Lake Park. The running stretch of the race is approximately 8 miles. By now your muscles should be warmed up!
