Located at the beautiful Mt. Vernon Country Club in mountains 20 minutes west of Denver.
The race attracts a mix of uber-fit veteran triathletes drawn by the foothills course, lots of beginning triathletes who find the pool swim less intimidating than racing in open water, and everyone in between. It really is a race for all ability levels.
The post-race meal, however, is as much a draw as the race itself. Prepared by the club's wedding catering staff, the buffet is easily the best post-race spread around!
The Lookout Mountain Triathlon starts with a 525 yard swim in the amazing aquatic facility at the Mount Vernon Country Club. The pool is perched on the side of Lookout Mountain, with jaw dropping views of the surrounding foothills.
Next comes a 10 mile bike ride on the smooth paved roadways that traverse the summit of Lookout Mountain - a hilly, but amazingly scenic ride with fun ups and downs, ending with a beautiful loop past the Boettcher Mansion and Lookout Mountain Nature Center.
The race concludes with a 5K run, on the well maintained dirt roads of the country club. These final three miles take participants through rolling meadows and under towering pines.
