Join the Challenged Athletes Foundation for the 17th annual San Diego Triathlon Challenge at La Jolla Cove on Sunday October 24, 2010.
Inspiration, perspiration, and determination are the words of the day as more than 125 of the world's top physically challenged athletes take on a grueling 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride, and 13.1 mile run distance triathlon alongside 550 able-bodied triathletes, celebrities, and pros.
Held annually, this event raises more than $1 million each year for the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF), allowing it to fulfill it's mission of providing people with physical disabilities the funding and support they need to participate in sports and fitness activities.
SDTC also includes an expo village, 5K walk, family fun center, and Tour De Cove spin-a-thon with over 100 spinner bikes.
It is much more than a triathlon event. It is a celebration of life and the human spirit that literally changes lives - physically challenged and able-bodied alike.
This is not a race or a competition. It is a half-Ironman event that tests the ability of even the toughest of athletes. It consists of a 1.2 mile open water swim beginning and ending in La Jolla Cove, a 56 mile bike ride through the grueling hills of San Diego's North County, and run 13.1 miles up the testing San Diego coastline.
