Join us for the inaugural A Reason to Run 5K Run/Walk and Kids 12-mile Run on Saturday, May 11, 2013!
The event will be held at Marine Park in Vancouver, Washington and the scenic course will parallel the Columbia River with breath-taking views on the out and back course with a turnaround at Wintler Park.
Participants of all ages are encouraged to join in this event that is raising funds to support shelter, health and food security locally and globally. All proceeds will go toward supporting the following missions: Clark County Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, Marshall-McLoughlin Community Connections in Vancouver, and The Beer-Sheba Project in Senegal, West Africa.
The course is a scenic out and back, starting at the corner of SE Marine Park Way and SE Columbia Way and heading east along the Waterfront River Renaissance Trail. The trail meets up with SE Columbia Way after about a 12 mile and continues along SE Columbia Way until it meets up with the trail again at close to 1 mile. From here runners will enjoy the breath-taking view of the Columbia River as they run out and back on a jetty and then head east along the trail through Wintler Park, turning around at the east end of the trail and heading back along the same course, but skipping the jetty, as you return to the finish line.
There are a few parking options. The closest parking lots are located in front of Marine Park, on the south side of Columbia Way or the on the east side of Marine Park Way. About a 14 mile south on Marine Park Way is roadside parking. The Water Resource Center has additional parking available about 12 mile east of the park on the north side of Columbia Way. A final option is to park at Wintler Park (half-way point in run) about 1.5 miles from the start line at Marine Park. We strongly encourage those unfamiliar with the area to visit and explore before the day of the race.
