The Devil's Challenge Triathlon closes out the 2013 WI Tri Series! This scenic sprint tri in the middle of September is the perfect way to end your racing season. After a swim in Devil's Lake challenge yourself with a hilly bike ride through the beautiful Baraboo bluffs. A 5K through the quiet park roads concludes this great late-season triathlon!
The course will be accurately measured and well-marked, and the race will be chip-timed by SMA timing. Transition will be secure and professional bike SAG will be provided by Trek Bicycles in transition and out on the course. Each athlete will recieve a technical t-shirt, a safe course with an experience water safety team on the swim marked by large highly-visible buoys. Pre-race water and post-race refreshments will be served.
A pre-race clinic from a local pro triathlete and/or USAT certified coaches will be announced closer to race day. Please check the "Race Preview Clinic" section on this website for exact dates, times and clinic coach. Awards will be given to the top three athletes in each age group. More "unconventional" awards, such as those for both fastest and slowest splits, will be provided by sponsors such as Speed Cycling throughout the series.
Throughout the season, the series scoring will be tracked on Athlinks, and at each race you will have the opportunity to enter a raffle for a Trek Speed Concept bike at the end of the series.
Swim: The swim will take place at Devil's Lake State Park at the North Beach, following the shoreline for a 1/4 mile. Swimmers will exit towards the shelter near the the transition area. Swim caps are MANDATORY. There will be a water safety team present.
Bike: Exit the transition area and exit out of the park, take a right on DL, left on 113 right on Tower Road. There is a 180 degree turnaround before the intersection of Bluff Road, turn right on Neuman Road, left on W, straight across 113 left on Old Lake Road, right on DL and left into Devil's Lake State Park entrance. The bike course will be well marked with volunteers on the course.
Run: Exit the transition area and exit the park to the left. Take a left on DL, left onto Quartzite Campground, run into the camp, and back out to the right on DL. Turn right at the exit of the park and then left to the finish line. There will be two water stations on the run course. The first water station will be located right outside the transition exit and the second will be located at the run turnaround.
Transition Area: Transition will be located on the grassy area in front of the shelter at the North Shore beach. Athletes should have their transition area set up at least 1/2 hour before the start of the race. Spectators are NOT allowed in transition.
