_ The 2024 Motor City Triathlon:
Experience the thrill of speed at the Motor City Triathlon, hosted at the stunning Belle Isle, Detroit's crown jewel. Renowned as one of the fastest triathlon courses in the nation, Belle Isle provides the perfect setting for athletes aiming to achieve their personal records.
Both the Motor City Triathlon and the prestigious Michigan Championship will unfold on the same venue and courses. This exciting event features a unique setup with two transitions: Transition 1 situated at the beach, approximately one mile north of Shelter 1, while Transition 2 is conveniently located behind the picturesque flower clock and flag pole on the island.
Prepare to dominate the course with dedicated closed coned lanes for both the bike and run segments, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted race experience. The closed course setup guarantees optimal conditions for setting your PR, with a 7:30 a.m. start time allowing athletes to hit the road before the park gets bustling with activity.
Immerse yourself in the breathtaking backdrop of the Motor City skyline to the west and the scenic views of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to the east, making Belle Isle a truly picturesque and ideal venue for multi-sport endeavors. Get ready to unleash your speed and conquer the Motor City Triathlon amidst the beauty and energy of Detroit's iconic landscape.
Please note the following important instructions for the Motor City Triathlon: This is a 2 transition, point to point event which is a little different format than typical multi-sport events.
TRIATHLETES: At Transition 2 (T-2), only run gear should be placed. Swim and bike gear should be stored at Transition 1 (T-1).
DUATHLETES ONLY: Keep your bike gear at T-2.
This event features two transition areas due to the beach being one mile away from the finish line, parking area, and T-2 located at Shelter #1. Please park at T-2/finish line on Central. Then set your running gear and ride your bike to T-1. DO NOT drive down to the swim start, T-1. Your gear will be transferred from T-1 to T-2 for your convenience. It is YOUR responsibility to label your equipment bag with your name and RACE #. We are not responsible for any lost items. Do not put valuables, keys, etc. in your gear bags for transport back to T-2. Use a bright-colored bag that stands out to facilitate easy identification amidst the numerous gear bags.
Again, it is YOUR responsibility to bring a gear bag and mark it with YOUR RACE # and name. We will not provide bags. Anything not placed in a bag will be put in a general pile.
CHIP PICKUP will be at T-2 and Body Marking will be at T-1 near the RUN IN CHUTE.
Transition area #2 will be on the large cement pad in front of Shelter 1. When arriving on the island, follow signs and support crew. You must park at T-2, place your RUN gear in transition, receive your timing chip and strap, place that on your ankle immediately, and head to T-1 with the rest of your race gear.
Following the last athlete exiting T-1, all gear bags will be taken to the finish gear bag claim area at T-2 just past the finish line along the transition area. Sprint athletes, please give support crew time to sort and organize bags. To expedite loading trucks with bags, athletes should carry their own bag out of transition and toss it in the pile at the exit.
Transition area opens 5:30 a.m.
rs floating through on the Canadian side of the island and the Detroit skyline and Ambassador Bridge on the south end. The course is flat, lightning fast and has been the site for many PR bike splits as well.
