OWW's are popular coached open water swim workouts at Lake Meridian Park in Kent, WA that have been happening since 2006.
Participants will swim around a 300 yard buoy course in groups of similar-pace swimmers. Coach Mike Murphy will be in a kayak at the start buoy coaching an interval workout with OW skill practice during each workout. The swims combine the fitness-building benefits of interval workout in a pool and open water swim practice.
A coach will also be near shore working with newer open water swimmers on specific skills and helping you get acclimated. Her goal is to get you trained up and out on the buoy course with the main group as quickly as possible.
Open Water Wednesdays are a great workout for any open water swimmer - you'll get valuable fitness training and can practice open water skills like sighting, turning at buoys, and swimming close to others. This workout has the full spectrum of swimmers - from newbies to some of the fastest swimmers in the area. You'll fit right in!
You may sign up for one workout at a time, or purchase 3 or more workouts for a reduced price. The more workouts you sign up for, the more you'll save.
Can't make one of the workouts you signed up for? You can show up at any other workout and we can transfer that registration.
Not sure of your summer schedule? Sign up for the number of workouts you think you'll attend. Purchasing 10-11 passes cuts the price of each workout in half.
See more about pricing on the "Pricing" page.
Wetsuits are mandatory If you don't own a swim-specific wetsuit yet, take a look at the blueseventy line that you can find at Northwest Tri & Bike. Swim-specific wetsuits are far superior over the general watersports wetsuits, that can actually make open water swimming harder! blueseventy & Northwest Tri & Bike will bring their demo fleet to our race nights so you can give them a test drive in the lake. These are the best suits on the market and are produced right here in Seattle, WA. Learn more on the 'Wetsuits" page.
Blueseventy Wednesday Night Practice Races
July 19 & August 9
After a warm-up, Swimmers will be able to race a .5, 1, or 2 miles for some race-day practice. Wetsuits are mandatory at the races also. See more on the Race Nights Page.
Join us for a fun summer of Wednesday evening swims!
