2012 Greenswell Darby "Spring for SIDS" Duathlon:

  • The Greenswell Darby Creek "Spring for SIDS" Duathlon takes place on Sunday, April 29 at Battelle-Darby Creek Metro Park in Galloway, OH - just outside of COlumbus, OH.
  • The event benefits the SIDS Network of Ohio in the memory of Corbin Hastings.
  • 50% of event proceeds will be donated through the Greenswell Participant Foundation to the SIDS Network of Ohio.
  • Course Information:


    Duathlon Run #1:
  • The opening run of the duathlon will start on the Darby Greenway with an out-n-back 2 mile run.
  • The trail surface is smooth crushed limestone and flat.
  • Athletes will return to the transition area located in the Indian Ridge Picnic area.

    Bike:
  • Duathletes and relay bike participants will head out of Battelle-Darby Creek Metro Park, turn RIGHT onto Darby Creek Rd, turn RIGHT onto Alkire Road and then turn RIGHT onto Gardner Rd.
  • Athletes will take the scenic Gardner Rd to US-40 (W. Broad St) and turn RIGHT. Take US-40 to Darby Creek Rd - turn RIGHT and take Darby Creek Rd back to park.

  • Short distance duathletes will re-enter the park and head into transition.

  • Long distance duathletes will PASS by the Park entrance and complete a 2nd loop. Participants will re-enter the park after completion of the 2nd lap.

    Duathlon Run #2:
  • This is where the real fun begins as athletes will head from transition to trails along the Darby Creek.
  • The trails are well-manicured but include several nice hills....but what goes up must come down!
  • Short distance duathletes will complete an out-n-back 5K, while the long distance duathletes will get the opportunity to run the entire trail system which includes such names as Cobshell Trail, Indian Ridge Trail, Ancient Trail, Terrace Trail, and Hawthorne Trail.
  • The best part of the run course will be a pulse-pounding .25 mile climb from Darby Creek to the finish line.
