_ 2020 Bear Lake Triathlon & Duathlon: Sunday, August 23, 2020.

Entering its 14th year, this premier, athlete and family friendly event kicks off the 2020 triathlon season for West Michigan. This event offers something for everyone: A Sprint distance Triathlon (750 meter swim, 20 K bike and 5 K run), Olympic distance triathlon (1500 meter swim, 40 K bike and 10 K run) Sprint duathlon (5 K run, 20 K bike and 5 K run). Relay teams are also encouraged if participants prefer to do only 1 discipline. Bear Lake Park is located directly behind North Muskegon Public School.

Welcome to the 2020 Bear Lake Triathlon and Duathlon. Originally planned for Sunday, May 24, 2020, the COVID-19 virus has forced us to initiate our pre-arranged alternate plan of Sunday, August 23, 2020. All agreements and facets of the new date are already in place and ready to go. This premier, long running, athlete and family friendly event offers an Olympic distance triathlon, Sprint distance triathlon and Sprint distance duathlon. Relay teams are also invited to participate in any of these events. Bear Lake Park, the venue for the event, is located behind the North Muskegon High School in North Muskegon.

 The COVID-19 virus has dramatically changed the face of running and triathlon events. We received return to racing protocols from numerous industry leaders and organizations, W.H.O., C.D.C. State and local requirements. We also served on the Michigan Outdoor Recreation Reopening Workgroup, which established protocols and sent to Governor Whitmer's office for review, consideration and implementation.
