_ The 2020 Walk Across Lake Winnebago:

The Walk Across Lake Winnebago originally started in 2003. Over the past several years it has continued to grow into a day of laughter, friendship, craziness, and fun! The Payne's Point Hook & Spear Fishing Club monitors the ice conditions and plows the road if there is 12 inches of ice or more.

Since 2010, we have donated $50,000 to The Neenah Animal Shelter, $2,930 to the City of Menasha K9 Unit, $23,535 to City of Neenah K9 Unit and $6,000 to the Neenah-Menasha Water Rescue.

This year, Walk Across Lake Winnebago will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2020. Our goal is to raise funds for area Water & Ice Rescue Departments. Specifically, Neenah-Menasha Fire Department Water Rescue, Town of Vinland Fire Department and Calumet County Dive Team.

Event details and schedule

Q&A’s

Where/When do I pick up my shirt/sweatshirt?
If you ordered attire, you will need to pick that up the weekend before the walk. Saturday, January 25th and Sunday January 26th at the Paynes Point Hook & Spear Fishing Clubhouse in Neenah. More details coming soon on this ....

How many miles is the walk?
Total, the walk is about 10 miles.

Are dogs allowed on the bus?
NO. Dogs are not allowed on the buses that transport us from Vinland Still & Grill in Neenah to Bobber’s in Hilbert. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Are dogs allowed on the walk?
YES. Just be sure that you have full control of your pup! And pay attention to their precious paws. They can get extra cold on the ice.

Is their transportation back to Hilbert at the end of the day?
NO. This year we have nothing arranged for transportation except from Vinland Still & Grill in Neenah to Bobber’s Bar in Hilbert the morning of the walk – buses start to transport at 10am. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Please be patient with bus transportation – first come, first go. They will continue to run to Bobber’s in Hilbert that morning until everyone is over there that wants to walk across.

When can we start walking?
When you get dropped off at Bobber’s in Hilbert, you can begin walking at anytime. Some people start right away, others go into Bobber’s for a drink or use the bathroom.

If you are looking to begin earlier, please realize that porta potties/etc. will not be set up until 10am.

Will there be bathrooms along the way?
YES. We have 7 porta potties along the 8-mile trek across Lake Winnebago. There is also a porta potty available outside of Bobber’s – if the line is long inside before you begin, be sure to use that one (very clean).

Can I register the day of?
YES. You can register the day of ONLINE (best idea) or at Vinland Still & Grill.

Can I get a refund if I was unable to do the walk?
This is a benefit for the Neenah - Menasha Water Rescue Team. Therefore, the proceeds go directly to them.

Is there food or water along the way?
You are responsible for bringing your own beverages. Be sure to bring a little sandwich or a snack if you feel you will get hungry. There is always a stop or two along the way, but we can’t ever guarantee who or what that will be.

What happens if I can’t make it all the way across?
NO PROBLEM. There are many ways of transportation to get you back to shore. Just stop someone on the road and they are well aware of what is going on that day.

What happens once we get across?
There will be a “WALK” sign once you get closer to the west shore. Be sure to take that route (For Walkers Only). That will take you up to a Private Landing on Paynes Point Road and you will walk directly up to Paynes Point Bar & Grill and Vinland Still & Grill where Live Music and fun await! There will be food available for purchase at Vinland Still & Grill and a Nesco of Hot Dogs at Mikeee’s Paynes Point Bar.
