_ The 2018 Howell Independence Aquathlon & Open Water Swim:
The Howell Independence Aquathlon is a unique, multi-sport event which includes a 2k Run, a 750m swim and a final 2k Run. The run takes place through the Howell City Park and beautiful Lakeview Cemetery. The swim takes place in Thompson Lake off of Howell City Park. We also have a one-mile Open Water Swim. The all-inclusive price allows you to participate in both events, or choose one. Deadline to register and be guaranteed a t-shirt is June 25.
The top 3 male and female in each age group will receive an award for the Aquathlon. The 1st place male and female and 1st place male and female masters will receive an award for the Open Water Swim,
Wet suits are permitted at the Aquathlon but for health reasons, participants should not wear one if the water is 78 degrees or higher. Check with a race instructor the day of the event for details on the water temperature.
Also for safety reasons, it is required that each participant wear a swim cap while in the water. Swim caps make it easier for event staff and water safety boats to see participants in the water. If a participant does not have a swim cap the day of the event, they will be available for purchase on site for $2.00.
