Refund and Deferral Policy

There are no refunds and no transfers of applications. We do allow entries to be deferred into 2012. Requests for deferrals must be made by completing a deferral form by midnight EDT the night before the 2011 race date. You do not need a doctor's note to defer; you can defer for any reason. You will not receive a refund for your 2011 entry fee, and you will be required to pay the full fee for 2012, but a slot will be reserved for you for the 2011 race. Instructions for entering the 2012 race will be sent to you around the time that 2012 registration opens. Click here for our refund and deferral policies, and to access the deferral form.

Course Information:


.4K Swim, 20K Bike, 5K Run

The course runs entirely on Belle Isle, the largest island park in the United States. Comprised of 985 acres, Belle Isle is also the tenth largest municipal park in the United States. Located in the middle of the Detroit River on the Michigan/Canadian border, Belle Isle has a unique history dating back hundreds of years. The island is 3 miles east of Downtown Detroit off Jefferson Avenue, and can be accessed by crossing the MacArthur Bridge on East Grand Avenue. For more information on Belle Isle, check out The Friends of Belle Isle website. The entire event takes place on the island with a 2-loop bike course and a one-loop run course..

SWIM

  • The .4K/.25 mile swim will take place on the north side of the island at the swim beach, and will include two turn buoys.

    BIKE
  • The 20K/12.4-mile bike will take place on a 6.2-mile loop around the island, following the same course as the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix auto race. Athletes will complete the loop twice

  • RUN
  • The 5K/3.1-mile run is a one-loop course on paved roads.
