Normally a fun race to kick off the season, this year was a failure. 300 yd swim was essentially reduced to a 250 yd walk due to the first timers start at the same time as the fastest swimmers of the age group start. Not really any logic. The first time triathletes should rightfully have their own start so they get a great experience - and allow the faster class of swimmers to have a good swim leg. The bike segment start ran directly between two active baseball diamonds without course marshals or even cones. Families attending the baseball games were walking directly across the course (aka sidewalk) as we were riding... at speed (~20mph). Bad plan for many reasons. Totally appreciate the volunteer efforts, but the race management needs to really clean up these issues for next year.
