HOW WE ARE DIFFERENT:

We give prize money to the top two participants in each category, male and female.

We have a separate prize for fastest boy and girl between the ages of 14 and 16 years.

We randomly hand out money before, during and after the race to participants and spectators.

This is a 2 race series - if you enter both races you can win up to $5000.00.

We pride ourselves on having a minimum of 30 obstacles for each race, about half of which have mud elements.

Our races are all-inclusive pricing: You will not be nickled and dimed to death - your fee gets you race entry, parking, one free beer, one free food entree, a raffle ticket, and a t-shirt. There is no need to bring extra cash to our races, although you are welcome to do so for extras

Course description:

4 Mile mud and obstacle run with at least 30 obstacles (actual description will be in race program) for your pain and pleasure. June 1st is the first race in a 2 race series the second race will be held in the Fall. Miles of Mud is simply a better race than what you have done in the past.

Prize Money:

Contingent on minimum number of participants, 500, First Place for each category $1500.00 and Second Place each category $500.00. Winners will be paid after all heats are complete.

Raffle prizes will be given out during the live music performance and you must be present to win. Extra tickets can be purchased by participants and spectators.

There will also be other cash and prizes handed out randomly at the event.

From Austin:

Take Hwy. 71 EAST toward Bastrop. In Bastrop, you will go over the Colorado River bridge and come to an intersection with traffic light. Go straight at the light toward Smithville. The highway becomes Hwy 95 SOUTH to Smithville. Watch for a brown Texas Parks sign for Buescher State Park/ Hwy 153. Take the first exit for Smithville and turn left at the stop sign. Continue down Hwy 153 for 2.3 miles from Hwy. 71, past the Buescher State Park entrance. Shortly, you will see the entrance to Rocky Hill Ranch on your left, marked by Texas flags on rock columns.

From Houston:

Take I-10 WEST toward Columbus. Just past the city of Columbus, merge onto Hwy 71 WEST toward La Grange. Continue down Hwy 71 through La Grange and onto Smithville. Watch for a brown Texas Parks sign for Buescher State Park/ Hwy 153. Take the last exit for Smithville and turn right at the stop sign. Continue down Hwy 153 for 2.3 miles from Hwy. 71, past the Buescher State Park entrance. Shortly, you will see the entrance to Rocky Hill Ranch on your left, marked by Texas flags on rock columns.

I recognize that Miles Of Mud is an inherently dangerous athletic event and participation carries with it the potential for death, serious injury and property loss. The risks include, but are not limited to, terrain, obstacles, temperature, weather, equipment, vehicles, actions of other people including other participants, volunteers, spectators, event officials, monitors, and producers of the event. Elements of terrain and facilities that pose risks are mud pits, barbed wire, cargo nets, sand bags, hurdles, steep hills, walls, rocks, trees, cactus and other thorny plants, poisonous plants, posts, fences, trenches, rubber tires, fire, water, and other features listed or shown on the trail map. There is also risk from wildlife, including biting and stinging insects and amphibians, snakes, wild hogs, cattle, rodents, undomesticated animals, and animals that are usually domesticated but may be dangerous, such as dogs and cats.

In particular, I understand, the course may go through water that has not been tested for chemicals, disease or contamination and that I may encounter wild animals, insects and plants.

I hereby assume all of the risks of participating, volunteering or otherwise associating with Miles Of Mud, whether the risks are related to my own actions or inactions, the actions or inactions of others (including participants, staff or spectators), falls, illness, infection, contact with others (including participants, staff or spectators), obstacles or terrain features, defects in the premises itself, or weather, including high heat and wind or humidity.

I certify that I am physically fit, have sufficiently trained for participation in the event and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified person.

I agree to observe and obey all posted rules and warnings, to follow any instructions or directions given by Miles Of Mud through its employees or other representatives, including instructions about how to approach and behave at or around obstacles.

I understand that I may be photographed during my participation and agree to allow my photo, video or film likeness to be used for any legitimate purpose by the Miles Of Mud and its assigns.

In consideration of my application and permitting me to participate in this event, I hereby release and discharge from any and all liability for my death, disability, personal injury, property damage, property theft or actions of any kind which may hereafter accrue to me including my traveling to, from and during this event the following: Grey and Pam Hill, Hilil Inc, Greg Maxwell, Ron Jorgenson, Leaning Tree Adventures, Rocky Hill Ranch and all their directors, officers, employees, volunteers, representatives, and agents, sponsors, or any other associated organizations.

This Accident Waiver and Release of Liability is legally binding, and shall be construed broadly to provide a release and waiver to the maximum extent permissible under applicable law.

WAIVER OF LIABILITY FOR PARTICIPATION

In consideration of my visiting and utilizing the land and facilities of ROCKY HILL RANCH (hereinafter to be referred to as the bike ranch at Rocky Hill), I hereby freely agree to and make the following contractual, representation and agreements. I fully realize the dangers of participating in both on and off road bicycle riding as well as camping, swimming and participating in any sport activities. I fully assume the risks associated with such participation including, by way of example and not limitations, the following: the dangers of collisions with pedestrians, vehicles, other bicyclists, and fixed and moving objects; the dangers arising from surface hazards, equipment failure, inadequate safety equipment and weather conditions, the danger of participating in any sport or play activity including drowning; and the possibility of serious physical and/or mental trauma including death.

I hereby waive, release, and discharge for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, assigns, and successors in interest (hereinafter collectively successors) any and all rights and claims which I have or which may hereafter accrue to me against the bike ranch at Rocky Hill and Leaning Tree Adventures, any of its employees, designates or heirs, any property owners, law enforcement agencies, all public entities, special districts, and properties (and their respective agents, official and employees) through or by which the events will be held for any and all damages which may be sustained by me directly or indirectly in connection with, or arising out of my participation with event, or travel to or return from the event, whether it be racing or day use bicycle riding.

I agree that it is my sole responsibility to be familiar with the bicycle riding course. I understand and agree that situations may arise during participation in the riding at the the bike ranch at Rocky Hill that may be beyond the immediate control of the property owners or land managers and I must partake in any and all activities so as to neither endanger myself or others. I accept responsibility for the condition and adequacy of my bicycle equipment and any other related personal equipment used on the the bike ranch at Rocky Hill. While riding my bicycle at the the bike ranch at Rocky Hill and any of the adjoining properties being utilized or leased by the the bike ranch at Rocky Hill, I will wear an ANSI and/or SNELL rated helmet and I assume all responsibility and liability for the selection of such a helmet.

I have no physical or mental condition which to my knowledge would endanger me or others if I participate in any event or day use.

I agree, for myself and my successors, that the above representations are contractually binding, and are not mere recitals, and that should I or my successors assert my claim in contravention of this agreement, I or my successors shall be liable for the expenses (including legal fees) incurred by the other party or parties in defending unless the other party or parties are finally adjudged liable on such claim for willful and wanton negligence. This agreement may not be modified orally, and a waiver of any other provision shall not be construed as a modification or any other provision herein or as a consent to any other provision herein or as a consent to any other provision herein or as a consent to any subsequent waiver or modification.

PARENT OR GUARDIAN OF A MINOR: I as parent or guardian of the below named minor hereby give my permission for my child or ward to participate in events and day use at the the bike ranch at Rocky Hill, and further agree, individually and on behalf of my child or ward to the terms of the above.
