2012 Contoocook Carry:

A challenging, but fun event with all proceeds going toward fuel assistance to help those in need.

The race begins at Hopkinton High School with a 2 mile run to the banks of the Contoocook River.

The individual/team participants paddle 5 miles down the River, including a portage around a dam on the river in Contoocook Village.

At the takeout point, the individual/team participants begin a 14 mile bike ride through some rolling country, over a covered bridge and return to Hopkinton High School.

Costumes are encouraged and welcomed.

Course Information:

The course begins and ends at Hopkinton High School.

The Carry begins from Hopkinton High School with a 2 mile run to the bank of the Contoocook River and a beautiful view of Putney Hill.

After finishing the two mile run, participants arrive at the Contoocook River to begin the 5 mile paddle to the bike ride starting point.

About 1/2 way down the river course, paddlers must take their boats out (there are volunteers to assist) and portage their boat about 200 meters around a dam (there are also volunteers who can help with this portage).

The boats are taken out at the Tyler Bridge to begin the bike course.

The 14 mile bike traverses gently rolling countryside over two lane roads, including a covered wooden bridge crossing, and returns through Contoocook Village to Hopkinton High School.

Directions:

Take Interstate 89 to Exit 6, Route 127.

Go north on 127 into Contoocook Village.

At the fountain on your left and the stop sign, turn left and go over the Contoocook River Bridge.

Bear right at the fork in the road, Park Avenue and go approximately 1/2 mile to the Hopkinton High School.

Directions to the boat and bicycle drop off points will be given at Registration.
