The Dunedin Duathlon : |
Duathlon : 3K Run, 11K Bike (7 Miles), 3K Run 1.8 Mile |
This is a fundraising event so please arrive with that mindset. You will learn on site of the amazing effort being put forth by our venue host, Chari Christie, to bring this event to Dunedin for the benefit of a family dealing with childhood cancer. Join us in this awesome fundraising race and celebrate with us at one of the oldest estates in Dunedin!
The course begins at the Christie Estate on the luxurious waterfront of Downtown Dunedin on Victoria Drive. From the yard on Victoria runners and walkers proceed north toward Alt. 19 using the sidewalk progressing toward Weaver Park. All participants will cross Alternate 19 at the yellow blinking cross walk where there will also be a deputy positioned. You will then proceed to the Pinellas Trail and head north to Jolli Mons where bike transition will be located. Athletes will retrieve their bikes and begin cycling south on the Pinellas Trail to Sedeeva Street where our Rotarian volunteers will direct you to turn around and cycle North up to Curlew Road on the Trail. More volunteers will turn athletes around on the Trail just before Curlew Road and you will complete the bike route back at Jolli Mons and will run the same route back to our start finish line at the Christie Estate on Victoria Drive.
This is a fundraising event vs. a competitive competition among your peers. There will be no awards for place finish other than the first 100 to cross the finish line will receive a Dunedin Duathlon medal. All participants will receive a Dunedin Duathlon t-shirt and are invited to celebrate with us at an amazing post race finish party at the Christie home. Participants are encouraged to race hard and make it safely to the finish line but also must give respect to traffic at the intersections on the Pinellas Trail as deputies will only be positioned at the major crossing points on Skinner Road and at Weaver Park to ensure safety. The other portions of the route set are to be followed with a "share the road" policy just as if you were out training on your own.
Park in areas of downtown Dunedin that are open to public parking and walk to the waters edge to the Christie Estate at 937 Victoria Drive, Dunedin, FL 34698
