2012 Lake Geode Challenge Triathlon:
- The Lake Geode Challenge is an Olympic distance event that will provide a challenging race for all athletes!
- Prize money will be awarded to the top five male and female finishers. Additonal cash awards for Masters, Teams, and Fastest Splits.
- A unique Lake Geode award will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age-group category and the top three in the Clydesdale & Athena divisions.

The event starts with a 1.5k out and back swim from the sandy Lake Geode beach.
The bike is a challenging 40k scenic course featuring flat roads, rolling hills and a long climb in a quiet rural countryside.
The race concludes with a 10k run on good concrete and asphalt roads in beautiful Geode State Park. Water stations located approximately three quarters of a mile.
Ice plunge baths located at finish line.

Directions:
|
Geode State Park is located approximately 13 miles West of Burlington, Iowa.
From Burlington:
- Take westbound Highway 34 exit 255 and follow signs to the Park, or take Mt. Pleasant Street west out of Burlington and stay left on Iowa 79 in Middletown toward Geode State Park.
From the west:
- Take eastbound Highway 34 exit 244
- Turn right on X23 / New London Road
- Follow X23 to Lowell & turn left on J20 / Salem Road
- Follow into park on race day – once you have crossed the dam follow the run course directions and signs to get to the beach.
Parking:
- Parking, transition, and the race start and finish are located at Lake Geode beach.
