Description:
  • This is not an ultra extreme event nor is it for the faint of heart. It is described as very challenging.
  • The race includes three diciplines. Kayaking on a lake 2.5 miles on a closed course followed by a 14 miles of mountain bike leg with several challenging sections; followed by a 2 mile run/trek/hike up and down Shawnee Peak, a 1300 ft. elevation change.
  • People may do it as individuals or do it in teams of two or three.
  • Men and women participate both as individuals and as team members.
  • Each leg must be completed by one individual. Legs cannot be broken up.
  • Times from last year varied from approximately 2:21:00 to 4:40:00 to complete the course.
  • We provide tee shirts, trophies by group and food for every competitor.
  • Safety is insured. We have First Response Teams scattered all over every section.
  • This event is a fun event that attracts a variety of athletes.
  • Much of the event is visible. The kayak leg is totally visible from Rt. 302 Causeway. The bike transition is visible as is the bike to run. The run goes up the face of Shawnee Peak. The finish is at the base of the ski slope.
  • Course Info:
  • The kayak course is a closd course on Moose Pond.
  • It starts with an "in the water start" and ends at the bike transition beach.
  • The bike course is 3.8 miles of local roads that takes you off road for an additional 10.4 miles of varying terrain. There is one downhill that most competitors carry and then a variety of single or double track peddling.
  • At approximately 11 miles is a steep hill of 700 ft. with a 125 ft elevation change. To date, no one has ridden up it.
  • The course ends on the Shawnee Peak ski trails and the run/trek transitions there for a 1 mile up and 1 mile down course.

  • Bridgton is located in western Mainer near the NH border.
  • It is on Route 302 approximately 45 miles northwest of Portland and 17 miles southeast of North Conway NH.
  • Other Info:
  • Life jackets and helmets are required.
  • Proof of age is required.
  • Trophies are passed out for individual effort for Men 17-34, 35 and up; women 17-34, 35 and up; teams by cumative age: 51-100; 101 - 150; 151- 200; 200 and up.
  • *We are attempting to create a High School Team Class with teams of competitors ranging from 14-1.
  • Only competitors 17 and above can compete as individual and do the entire race solo.
