2011 Real Squeal Sweet Onion Sprint Triathlon & Duathlon:

Great sprint triathlon and duathlon in Lyons/Vidalia area.

Previously named the Vidalia Onion Triathlon/Duathlon, but has been combined with the Real Squeal Lyons Barbeque and Bluegrass Festival this year.

The Venue is the same and proceeds still benefit United Way.

Invite all your friends.

Course Information:

Water stations will be set up during the run portion.

Sprint Triathlon - .25 mile swim, 12 mile bike, 3.1 mile run

Duathlon - 2 mile run, 12 mile bike, 2 mile run

2011 Race Update:

Our event has been canceled despite my best efforts.

When the original sponsors of the event canceled at the last minute, I along with others approached The Real Squeal: Lyons Barbeque and Music Festival and they agreed to sponsor it. Unfortunately time was just too short and a great event with good attendance just can't be accomplished. As a biker, runner, and sprint triathlete, I know it isn't fun to attend an event with low participation. Even though we had a late start, we thought we could overcome it and still get the attendance to a doable number, but perhaps due to some confusion with regard to the cancellation, the late advertising, or the state of the economy, the participation numbers are too low. Rather than wait to the last minute, it has been decided by the board that it should be postponed to 2012.

Look for updates in 2012 and hopefully you can join us then.
