  • On the second day (July 24, 2011), the Sprint or Olympic distance of the Music City Triathlon comprises 45% of the competition.
  • Age, weight, and gender divisions are offered.
  • See imathlete.com for further information and a photograph of Gordon Haller, first Iron Man winner in Hawaii, and finisher in the 33rd Hawaii Iron Man, and competitor of past physathlons, as well as supporter and consultant of this Tri-Physathlon, and other Physathlon events.
  • Also, Will Shipley, founder of the Physathlon, and six-time Double Iron Triathlon finisher is shown there. Search imathlete using Tri-Physathlon for additional details.
  • Call 615-201-9902 for Will Shipley's voice mail. The Physathlon Event and Training address is: P.O. Box 750, Madison TN 37116-0750. We hope to have T-shirts and medals for the age, weight, and gender divisions.

The Physathlon was a Pioneer in cross training events in 1982 and has been revised in the past decade. Also it is in part a training mechanism for lifetime long term athletic/triathlon participation. We hope to have various work shops and club memberships for those interested in overall cross training and competition with a fun component.
  • Course Information:

Weightlifting and free style events are at Fitness Plus Gym on Two Mile/ Rivergate Parkway in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. The Triathlon information are found on the Music City Triathlon web site. Participants must enter both the Music City Triathlon and Tri-Physathlon. While the Tri-Physathlon registration will be open until July 22, 2011, it would be well advised to register for the Music City Triathlon as early as possible. There may be optional events offered for the Tri-Physathlon at a later date.

    Directions:

To reach the Fitness Plus Gym from I-65 North, take the first exit for Goodlettsville, and go under the interstate. Approximately one half mile from the interstate, you will see Fitness Plus Gym on the right. It has a large sign and is well marked. See Music City Triathlon web site for information concerning the location of the Music City Triathlon.

    Other Info:

Participants must provide their own lock to secure a locker at the Fitness Plus Gym. No uniforms may be used for the weight lifting event, suggested are singlete and shorts with bike pant type shorts. There will no hand-offs, or place-backs, unless unable to do so, which will result in a 10 point penalty. We will have a basic score sheet available, and can provide it via hard mail. We will have refreshments on site. There will be a short session for awards for the weight lifting event. There will be orientation-in service at Fitness Plus Gym between 9:30-10:00 AM. We have a limit of 40 people entering the Tri-Physathlon, and are already getting inquiries. Try to make this unique event grow, and we may have some special guests, as well in the lifting and Triathlon field. We welcome guests, and spectators, as well as those who wish to volunteer. Future events are in the offing, and we hope you'll read about them here and at imathlete.com. Help us support the survivors of the tornados in the south. We hope to have T-shirts, and awards for the different divisions.
