The mission of IronKids is to inspire and motivate youth through the sport to lead an active, positive, and healthy lifestyle. The 2011 IronKids National Series and the Hy-Vee IronKids Midwest Series presented by Dole, targeting youth between the ages of 6-15, will provide an interactive weekend experience for the entire family that will not only showcase the nations top youth triathlon talent, but also will allow first-time triathletes to experience a positive introduction to the realm of multisport. Children will compete in age-appropriate distances with an emphasis on fitness, fun and safety.
Children ages 6-15 compete in age-appropriate distances with an emphasis on fitness, fun and safety. 6-8 year olds 50 yard swim 2 mile bike 500 yard run 9-11 year olds 150 yard swim 4 mile bike 1 mile run 12-15 year olds 300 yard swim 8 mile bike 2 mile run The cost to enter any IronKids is $30. Every participant will receive an IronKids Finisher T-shirt, a K-Swiss goodie bag, a K-dot finisher medal and the pride of calling themselves an IronKid.
Iron Kids will adopt the USAT age-up rule. According to USA Triathlon Competitive Rules, Article III, Section 3.2(a): All age group athletes must participate and compete in the age division corresponding to the athlete's age on December 31 of the year of the event
WTC/IronKid's entry fee is non-refundable. Transfers or deferrals of entry fees are NOT permitted.
If you have more than one child racing from the SAME family (ONLY), a $10 discount per second and third child is applicable. Limited to three children in the same family The IronKids Series will target 600 participants per event between the ages of 6 and 15 years old.
