The Mountain Arts Century Ride (The MAC) begins and ends in downtown Dawsonville at the Dawson County Middle School. The full English century route circles the mountainous terrain of northern Dawson County, eastern Pickens County, and southern Lumpkin County (the home of The Six Gap Ride). This area boasts well maintained roads with minimal traffic. The terrain is constantly changing with hills of various lengths and grades. The ride is highlighted by the challenging 10 mile climb from Old Grandview Road up Burnt Mountain, which summits at mile point 47. This climb has extended grades in excess of 10%. The cumulative climbing elevation for the century is greater than 8,000 feet.
**The MAC will be limited to the first 500 registered participants.
There is also a challenging 50 mile half century as well as a 30 mile ride that will allow cyclists to enjoy the beautiful countryside and who prefer the sanity of a shorter route. There will be 6 rest stops along the century route (3 on the 50 mile route, and 1 on the 30 mile route). Stops will be equipped with plenty of fruit, snacks, and drinks, including energy gels and bars. All of the stations will also have rest room facilities.
